CHENNAI MOFUSSIL BUS TERMINAL (CMBT) AT KOYAMBEDU

The CMBT project at Koyambedu along Inner Ring Road (Jawaharlal Nehru
Salai) was proposed by CMDA to decongest the existing terminals in George Town area, Broadway,
M.U.C., Esplanades and Basin Bridge and also the congestion along the arterial roads radiating from the Central Business District. |

This is the biggest bus terminus in Asia. It has 30 arrival and 150 departure terminals, 3 restaurants, 31 shops, 15 drinking water out-lets and 76 toilets. The main lounge can seat 536 people. Trees right round makes it environment friendly. 2000 buses are expected to pass through this terminus. A plot of 3 acres us provided for private bus operators.
 100 city buses are introduced to connect this terminus with the entire city. Once the initial ‘hiccups’ are over this terminus will become the pride of Chennai, Tamilnadu. |
